Throughout Saint Rose’s middle school program, students participate in individual and group activities that promote intrinsic motivation and creative teamwork – both necessary for the 21st-century workplace. They are challenged to think creatively, develop problem-solving strategies, utilize individual and group strengths to produce their best work, and treat each other with a Christian Spirit.
Students develop independence as they advance from a self-contained classroom (one classroom/one teacher for most subjects) to moving to classes according to a bell schedule and learning from a variety of teachers and specialists. Personal lockers are a special privilege for our middle schoolers. Students are responsible for keeping track of their nightly assignments as “Teacher Weekly Updates” become a thing of the past.
Faith. The House System nurtures an environment where Jesus Christ is the model for prayer, service, and how to build relationships.
Community. The House System strives to create a school community where every person is loved and respected as a person made in God’s image
House Identity
When students join the middle school, they will be placed in a house and remain with those students for Grades 6, 7, and 8. At the beginning of each trimester, individual houses will spend time working through team-building activities to create a culture of community. Houses are named after saints which represent our core beliefs. Each house is unique in color and prayer. Students will receive a shirt in the color of their house with the Saint Rose of Lima House crest.
